2009 Audi A4 Avant: what owners report

US owners report heavy oil burning on the 2.0 TFSI in 2009-2011 A4s, often around 65,000 miles, sometimes ending in a new engine. This is an engine fault shared by all A4 bodies, not specific to the Avant.2009–2011
In German TÜV data for the A4 and A5 together, brake lines on 12-13-year-old B8 cars fail more than twice as often as average (not body-specific).2008–2015
Polish press, drawing on a long-term test, names the B8's Multitronic CVT automatic as its main weak spot, with costly failures. This applies to all A4 bodies.2008–2015
On B8 TDI diesels, Polish press reports worn dual-mass flywheels causing power loss and costly leaks in the exhaust gas recirculation system (A4-wide).2008–2015
