2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: what owners report

The 6.2-litre L87 V8 in 2021-2024 trucks was recalled for crankshaft and connecting rod bearing defects that can cause engine failure; GM traced raised failure claims to engines in vehicles built from March 2021 to May 2024.2021–2024
US regulators opened a new probe after 36 owners reported engine failure even after the recall fix of thicker oil or inspection; the 36 cover all recalled GM vehicles with the L87 V8, not only the Silverado.2021–2024
Owners of 2022-2024 trucks praise strong engines, a smooth ride and a comfortable, roomy cabin.2022–2024
US complaint counts drop sharply after 2019, though newer trucks have also had less time on the road to show problems.2016–2025
