2009 Ford Mondeo: what owners report

Used-car guides say the fourth generation's chassis ages fast: suspension joints, track rod ends, anti-roll bar links and shock absorbers wear, and the steering rack can leak or knock.2007–2014
Fourth-generation diesels bring clogged particulate filters, EGR and intake flap faults and high-pressure pump trouble; the 1.8 TDCi adds turbo and flywheel wear.2007–2014
Fourth-generation electrics are a weak spot: heated windscreen elements burn out, bulbs fail early, shorts trigger false fault codes and the windscreen seal can leak.2007–2014
The fourth generation seats five adults in comfort, has a very large boot and is praised for stable, precise steering among the best in its class.2007–2014
