- US complaint data, which covers the CLA 250 only, names 2014 as the worst model year: 7 of its 11 owner reports concern the engine, including three blown engines and three cases of limp mode.2014
- French diesel owners most often log battery and sensor faults; three owners of the 220d also report flywheel trouble, and two each cite the gearbox and the clutch.2013–2018
- A few French owners of each of the three engines mark down cabin space, and none of them praise it.2013–2018
- Tyre and road noise is a recurring gripe, and owners of the 200d diesel mark down sound insulation in particular.2013–2018
