About this car
I am selling my 2008 Smart Fortwo with about 145,000 km, 61 PS (horsepower) and automatic transmission. The car runs and technically functions without major problems. The front of the vehicle has an accident damage that was present with the previous owner. The damage is not severe but has been noted. Please contact me for more details.
2008 Smart Fortwo: what owners report
- The automated gearbox and its clutch actuator are the main weak point of the 2007–2014 car: transmission is the top US complaint category, and ADAC links frequent breakdowns to the gearbox and clutch.2007–2014
- Half of the 2008 complaints logged in the US concern the transmission, including outright failure and reverse intermittently not engaging, both at around 69,000 miles on average.2008
- German reports on the 2007–2014 car mention hard-to-trace air-conditioning leaks, rattling steering, whistling blower motors and a rain sensor that can drain the battery.2007–2014
