2016 Volkswagen Tiguan: what owners report
- The DSG gearboxes tend to jerk when pulling away, and dual-mass flywheel or mechatronic unit failures are not unusual at higher mileage.2009–2016
- On first-generation cars, springs, dampers and axle mounts wear and rattle and are often flagged at inspection; the second generation passes the chassis check far more cleanly.2009–2016
- German inspectors often note heavily worn brake discs on the second generation, along with occasional oil leaks.2016–2023
- In the UK Driver Power owner survey for 2024 the outgoing Tiguan ranked 45th of 50 cars overall and 38th for quality and reliability.2016–2024
