2011 Volkswagen Tiguan: what owners report

A failing timing chain tensioner on the 2.0 TSI can let the chain jump and wreck the engine; it is the top complaint for 2011 cars, at about 90,000 miles.2011
Leaking panoramic sunroofs rank among the most reported problems on 2011 cars, typically showing up around 75,000 miles.2011
First-generation 1.4 TSI engines wear their timing chains and tensioners, so the chain stretches; ADAC lists it as a weak point on cars up to 2015.2009–2015
The DSG gearboxes tend to jerk when pulling away, and dual-mass flywheel or mechatronic unit failures are not unusual at higher mileage.2009–2016
