2009 Volvo V50: what owners report

In German TÜV inspections the V50 scored below average, with axle-mount wear, oil leaks and faulty lighting showing up more often; Carwiki also lists oil loss from engine and gearbox.2004–2012
Both ADAC and Carwiki single out the Peugeot-sourced 1.6 diesel as prone to turbocharger damage, which Carwiki ties mainly to poor lubrication.2004–2012
A recall covered S40 and V50 diesels with particulate filters built 2006–2010, as fuel diluting the oil could damage the engine; the fix was a software update.2006–2010
Twelve of the 13 US reviews of 2007 and 2010 cars are positive and one is mixed; they praise handling, ride and performance, including the T5's, and none describes a major mechanical failure.2007–2010
