How pricing works
Every vehicle in the catalogue is compared against others like it, not against a national average.
The comparison set
A price only means something next to a comparable one. Each vehicle is valued against listings that share its make, model, generation and body style, within a band of years and mileage — not against every car on the market, and not against the same model sold in a different country.
That last point is why the catalogue separates markets. The same model can differ by several thousand dollars between Korea and Germany for reasons that have nothing to do with the individual car: local demand, tax treatment, what a typical trim includes. Averaging across them produces a number that is wrong everywhere.
What moves a valuation
Age and mileage carry most of it. Beyond those, the model accounts for the options a listing declares and for its recorded condition — an accident history, a failed inspection and an open recall each pull the expected price down, and each is shown on the vehicle’s own page rather than folded silently into one figure.
What the badge means
“Below market” means the asking price sits under what comparable listings are asking. It is a statement about the listing, not about the car: a low price can reflect a problem the seller has disclosed, a problem they have not, or simply someone who wants a quick sale.
A fairly priced vehicle carries no badge at all. Most of the catalogue is fairly priced, and marking all of it would turn the signal into decoration.
What it does not account for
The valuation is built from listing data, so it inherits that data’s limits. It does not know what an inspection would find, whether photographs match the car, or whether a seller will honour the price. It does not include shipping, import duty or registration — the import tax calculator covers those separately, and they frequently exceed the difference the badge reports.
