I’m sad to let go of my Silver Lexus LS 460, a flagship Lexus sedan. I’m the first New Zealand owner of this imported model from Singapore, & it’s been a dependable car throughout my ownership.

The LS 460 is known for its build quality & V8 performance. A 4.6-litre petrol engine paired with an 8 speed auto, is a capable cruiser on motorways and around town. Lexus has a reputation for reliability (manufactured by Toyota).

Being a flagship model, it comes with a good level of standard equipment including leather seats, climate control, and a great sound system. The interior space is in excellent condition and being grey leather, it is a cooler colour in the summer heat.

The car has been well looked after & has covered 150,249 kms (will increase due to use) since I bought it from a dealer who imported from Singapore with 62,758 kms on the clock in 2017. This LS460 runs very quiet, is luxurious & is a comfortable four door sedan. Since 1999, this has been my third silver Lexus imported from Singapore as I found them all to have been well cared for, & all electronic wording on their dash boards displayed in english.

As I was in financial services, my long trips in this Lexus were to Wellington & Auckland to visit my clients. Although fuel economy around Tauranga was in the 12 litres per 100kms, I found that by cruising at 97-98kph (just under 1,500rpm), my fuel gauge went down to 8.7 litres per 100kms when I arrived in Wellington. This proved to me that this RWD car with a 380bhp (283kW) motor can be economical if driven just under the 100 kph NZ speed limit on long distances on the open road.

As I am coming up to age 80, I now only need a smaller car.
