1996 Toyota Caldina TZ 2.0 4WD – Tidy

Genuine Japanese-market TZ high-spec model (ST195G) with Toyota’s proven 2.0L 3S-FE engine, automatic transmission and full-time 4WD. Only one private NZ owner before us. For a 30-year-old car the interior is well preserved. Seats, carpets, plastics and door trims are all in good condition for its age, as is the cargo area with original retractable cargo blind. High specification for 1996 including: full-time 4WD, dual front airbags & ABS, air conditioning (AC itself is good, but the fan is limited; speed off to auto speed only), remote central locking (two fobs, one working, second could be battery ??), electric windows & mirrors, alloy wheels, roof rails & rear spoiler, towbar (i never towed, unknown if trailer plug works), Sony Bluetooth stereo (New), very good tyres. The main negative is the paint. There is significant clear-coat deterioration on the bonnet and roof, plus a smaller area on the RH rear guard. This is clearly shown in the photos. I am not aware of any dents or body rust. There is also a minor engine oil drip from an unidentified source. It hasn’t caused us any problems, or got any worse, and the engine does not noticeably consume oil. The original electric aerial has been removed and sealed, but FM reception works fine.

Relisted after previous buyer made online purchase, so car was sold. On arrival for what i thought was pick he was then asking pre-purchase questions, and tried to beat me down. Then leaves bad review about maintenance. The car has been very reliable during our ownership and to the best of my knowledge has no outstanding mechanical maintenance requirements. Cambelt history is not proven; but indication it was last done at 159,000km (as stated in original listing). A buyer is welcome to get this checked out by a mechanic.
