In 1967 two race engineers resigned from Mercedes Benz as their employer called it quits on the race program. This was directly due to Henry Ford II, Carroll Shelby & Ken Miles cleaning up at Le Mans from 1964 to 1968 with the GT40 after Enzo Ferrari insulted Henry Ford Jnr. The lads went home to their wee town, Affalterbach north of Stuttgart up in the apple orchids & went to business! By 1993 AMG they were regarded as the absolute pinnacle of modifying the mighty Mercedes Benz & were promptly bought out by their former bosses!

This is the legendary & highly collectable “Pre Merger” era which is seeing prices worldwide skyrocket! Very few Mercs ever got the Pre Merger AMG treatment! The Sultan of Brunei being on of many famous customers & arguably one of the most famous models “The Cocaine Hammer”. Jeremy Clarkson also covered the “Yakuza” Japanese mafia (Youtube)

In September of 1989 this incredible example was one of the last cars ever made in West Germany as the Berlin Wall came down on the 9th November, just a few weeks later! It went to Japan & received the AMG treatment in 1989 in the famous Tokyo AMG shop!
