THE BASICS

THE GOOD

• ONE OWNER, start to finish. No auction car, no rental fleet, no mystery history.
• 210,000 km on a 2012 is only about 15,000 km/year — well BELOW average for a car this age. Most 2012 Jettas on the market right now are at 250K-330K.
• The 2.5L five-cylinder is THE engine to have in this generation. No turbo. No DSG. No timing belt — it’s a timing chain. Simple, port-injected, and these routinely run past 400,000 km. There’s a reason this car has 210K and still drives properly.
• TRUE 5-SPEED MANUAL. Getting genuinely hard to find.
• Leather interior — no rips, no tears, no cracked seat bolsters. Driver/Passenger has had covers on it for years. Winter Tech mats on the driver/passenger floors.
• TWO SETS OF TIRES INCLUDED — winters AND summers. That’s $800-1,200 of tires you don’t have to buy, and you’re set for the season the day you drive off.
• 2 sets of keys (anyone who’s paid for a VW key cut and programmed knows what this saves you).

THE BAD — all of it, up front

• SOLD AS-IS, UNCERTIFIED. You’ll need a safety to plate it. The car has codes and will need to be brought to a mechanic.
• Driver’s side heated seat does not work. Likely the heating element needs replacing. Passenger side works fine.
• Two scratches in the paint — both clearly shown in the photos. Not hidden, not buffed out for the pictures.
• A few small cosmetic dents. Nothing structural, nothing rusted through, no accident damage.
• It’s a 14-year-old car with 210,000 km. It runs and drives, but it is not a new car and it isn’t priced like one. If you want a flawless car, this isn’t it. If you want an honest one, keep reading.
