On second-generation cars the 3.0 V6 TDI can suffer stretched timing chains and failed tensioners, an expensive repair.2010–2018
German TÜV data show higher oil loss from the engine and gearbox on the 2010-2018 Touareg, especially at the fourth inspection, plus early wear of brake discs and hoses and slightly above-average steering wear.2010–2018
One 2011 owner finds the navigation dated and one 2015 owner the telematics, and another 2015 owner says real highway economy falls short of the rating.2011–2015
On the 2010-2018 car, springs, dampers and other suspension parts do better than average at German inspections, rust hardly occurs and the exhaust lasts.2010–2018
