2008 Audi A5: what owners report
- Oil consumption on the 2.0 TFSI is the best-known issue: German owners report up to a litre per 1,000 km on first-generation cars, and US complaints include turbo and engine failures blamed on oil use.2008–2018
- At German inspections the first-generation front multi-link axle wears heavily, and brake hoses are flagged about twice as often as average.2008–2016
- The TFSI timing chain can stretch and skip a tooth on first-generation cars; a US complaint for a 2014 car describes a cylinder with no compression after chain failure.2008–2016
- ADAC breakdown statistics rate the first-generation A5 good to very good in every year, and the TÜV found its chassis better than average up to the third inspection.2008–2016
